The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting is intended for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA-affiliation and is available for delivery in two ways. One option is the traditional, instructor-led course where you will receive direct instruction from an NRA-certified instructor from beginning to end. The second option has two components: a self-study or “eLearning module” which is completed online in your own timeframe and a hands-on practical portion conducted in a classroom and shooting range with an Instructor.

Can I take the class if I am under 21?
Yes. The minimum age to get a LTC is now 18. Anyone 18 or old can get a LTC.
Do I have to be a Texas resident to get a LTC?
No. Texas issues to residents of all 50 states. All you need is a drivers license or ID issued by ANY state.
Is the online LTC class legal in Texas?
Yes. This is the official Texas DPS online LTC class required to get your LTC.
Do I need a LTC to carry in Texas?
Well, Texas has a restricted form of permitless carry but you can carry in more places with more protections with a LTC.
